Siri AI on Apple TV: supported models and upgrade choices

Apple confirms Siri AI beta for Apple TV 4K second generation and later in tvOS 27.2, subject to household device, language and region requirements. The new fourth-generation model adds hardware features and begins availability November 13. Existing eligible Apple TV owners should check their model before deciding that Siri AI requires replacement.

Which Apple TV models does Apple name for Siri AI?

The October 13, 2026 Apple TV announcement explicitly includes Apple TV 4K second generation or later for Siri AI beta. Its footnote identifies tvOS 27.2. This includes older eligible 4K hardware as well as the new fourth-generation model; the A19 chip is therefore not a universal minimum for this beta. Apple TV HD and first-generation Apple TV 4K fall outside the named eligibility range in this announcement. That is the relevant boundary for an existing owner's upgrade decision.

Keep the support scope precise. Eligibility for Siri AI does not retroactively add the new model's microphones, processor, remote hardware or four-speaker surround capability to an older box. Apple's general Siri AI consumer article describes five personal-device platforms and omits tvOS, but the TV-specific announcement supplies direct first-party evidence. This guide uses that evidence rather than converting the omission into a blanket unsupported verdict.

How do I identify my current Apple TV?

On Apple TV, open Settings, then General, then About and read Model. Apple also documents the model number on the bottom label and on the back of the original box. Use the box or device record rather than the remote's appearance: remotes can be replaced, and Apple says the new remote is compatible with Apple TV HD and Apple TV 4K. A newer remote does not change the generation of the streaming box.

Apple's identification article maps A2169 to Apple TV 4K second generation, A2737 to third-generation Wi-Fi and A2843 to third-generation Wi-Fi plus Ethernet. It maps A1842 to first-generation 4K and A1625 to Apple TV HD. These records let existing owners distinguish the eligible range from older hardware. That identification article predates the fourth-generation announcement, so this guide does not invent an A-number for the new model or mistake the article's older model list for a cancellation of Apple's October launch.

What is available, and what launches on November 13?

Apple announced the fourth-generation Apple TV 4K on October 13 and opened preorders that day in the United States and 29 other countries and regions. Store availability begins Friday, November 13. On this page's November 8 review date, that is a future hardware availability date. Follow-up coverage published November 6 through 8 should not be treated as a new announcement date or evidence that retail availability has already begun.

The announcement separately describes Siri AI as available in beta in tvOS 27.2 on eligible Apple TV 4K models. That is a software eligibility statement, not a report that this guide installed or tested a particular build. Existing owners should check the actual software and setup offered on their own device against Apple's requirements. The HomePod mini 2 announcement has a different timeline: its hardware began availability October 30 while Siri AI remains promised for a future update. Do not transfer either product's dates to the other.

What can Siri AI do for entertainment and personal requests?

Apple describes a conversational, full-screen entertainment search experience with poster art and relevant follow-up suggestions. While a show is playing, questions can produce a compact overlay about filming locations or suitability for a younger viewer. These are announced discovery and knowledge examples; an answer about suitability is not a substitute for checking the actual content rating and household viewing preferences. Streaming availability and subscriptions remain properties of the chosen app and content.

For a request based on a friend's recommendation, Apple specifically describes using an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone to draw on personal context. The broader footnote requires a paired eligible device with Siri AI enabled and a supported language. A shared television therefore does not gain unrestricted access to every resident's information. This announcement does not separately establish Siri app history synchronization, HomeView's expressive voice carryover or arbitrary third-party actions on Apple TV. Evaluate the documented entertainment task you need rather than importing another device's feature list.

Which owner, language and region conditions apply?

Apple requires the owner of the home in the Home app to have an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad running current software, with Siri AI turned on and set to a supported language. Check the owner account and eligible personal device before assuming an Apple TV software update is sufficient. The Apple TV can itself serve as a home hub; the announcement does not impose a second hub as a universal prerequisite for Siri AI.

The announced assistant launch is in English in the United States, Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa and the United Kingdom. The hardware preorder market is broader. Apple's note also says Siri AI is not initially available in iOS or iPadOS in the EU, which matters for the owner's required device. The announcement does not establish an EU Siri AI activation route or Spanish availability on Apple TV. Far-field Siri language support is a separate list and must not be used to expand the Siri AI rollout countries or languages.

Which upgrades actually require the fourth generation?

The new model contains the A19 chip and three built-in far-field microphones for hands-free Siri. Apple's microphone language list includes Mandarin Chinese, Dutch, English, Finnish, French, German, Hebrew, Norwegian and Swedish, with regional conditions. That hardware list describes voice activation support, while Siri AI launches in the narrower English scope above. For sound, the new four-speaker setup requires fourth-generation Apple TV 4K with current software and four HomePod mini 2 or second-generation HomePod speakers in matching front and rear pairs.

Remote capabilities also differ. Find My support applies to Siri Remote second generation or later. Precision Finding requires the fourth-generation remote and specified recent iPhone models; playing a locating sound is exclusive to the newest remote. Do not conclude that an older remote gains every new finding feature from software alone. If entertainment conversation is your main goal, checking existing box eligibility can avoid an unnecessary replacement; choose new hardware for the additional functions that matter to your room.

Do cameras and home automation require iCloud+?

The announcement describes accessory control, scenes, automations, Thread connectivity and a home-hub role. Compatible accessories are sold separately. Intelligent descriptions of HomeKit Secure Video recordings require setup with an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad and an eligible iCloud+ plan. Some video intelligence functions cover a plan-dependent number of cameras, which Apple says can change. A camera feed, an encrypted recording, a generated description and a Siri conversation are different functions; check the requirement for the one you intend to use.

For an existing owner, identify the box first, establish the owner's eligible device and region next, then compare your required feature with the software or hardware scope above. Keep a working second- or third-generation 4K in consideration for Siri AI beta. Consider fourth generation for its own hardware benefits, with November 13 still ahead on this review date. This is a documentation review, without claims of hands-on playback, installation or successful personal requests.

Common questions

Do I need the new Apple TV 4K for Siri AI?

Apple names Apple TV 4K second generation or later for Siri AI beta in tvOS 27.2. The fourth-generation box is therefore not the only eligible model. The owner's compatible iPhone or iPad, enabled Siri AI, supported language and region remain relevant. New hardware features have their own narrower eligibility.

Is the fourth-generation Apple TV already in stores?

On this guide's November 8, 2026 review date, Apple's announced November 13 store availability is still in the future. Preorders opened October 13. These dates refer to the new hardware; Apple's separate statement about Siri AI beta in tvOS 27.2 also includes eligible older Apple TV 4K models.

Does an older Apple TV get hands-free microphones through an update?

No. Apple describes the three built-in far-field microphones as hardware in the new fourth-generation Apple TV 4K. Siri AI eligibility on an older box does not add those microphones. Likewise, the new four-speaker surround setup specifically requires fourth-generation Apple TV 4K and the supported speakers arranged in matching pairs.

Does Spanish Siri support prove Spanish Siri AI availability?

No. The product announcement gives Siri AI an English launch in eight named countries. Traditional Siri availability and far-field microphone language support have separate scopes. Neither proves Spanish Siri AI support on Apple TV. The owner's required iPhone or iPad and regional eligibility must also be checked before relying on the feature.
